Drizzle Season 2023: Here's everything that's changed in Splatoon 3 today
Today, the Drizzle Season for 2023 kicks off. In this article, I list everything that's changed in the game today.
It’s amazing to believe that almost a whole year has passed since the launch of Splatoon 3 on the Nintendo Switch, which made its way onto store shelves on the 9th of September 2022.
Anyways, today marks the start of a new season. Continue on reading below for most of the things that have changed this season1.
New catalogue
I never particularly like reporting about the new catalogue because what can I really say? I did last season because there were genuinely some pretty cool stuff, but this season there isn’t really anything standing out to me. Plus, starting in this seasons catalog, you will begin to notice items from catalogues released in the past.

New music
It’s always interesting to see what music that the squids consider fresh! In this season, we have 3 new tracks!
First of all, a new artist called H2Whoa has dropped onto the scene! There are two new tracks2 from this artist which has appeared this season. One of them was named Ripstop & Go, which appeared in the trailer for the Drizzle Season 2023. The other one is named Aquasonic.
We also have a fresh new track from Deep Cut named Big Betrayal! I already made a post about this if you’d like to learn more about it.
Events
As Splatoon 3 is becoming a year old, don’t expect to experience a shortage of events!
If you read the post attached above, you will know that there’s a Splatfest taking place from Saturday 9th September at 1am BST to Monday 11th September at 1am BST. This Splatfest’s theme is about who would make the best leader: Shiver, Frye or Big Man?
And, the Salmonoids are throwing on a party of their own, since there will be a Big Run taking place on Um’ami Ruins from the Saturday 2nd September at 1am BST to Monday 4th September at 1am BST.
We expect more events to happen throughout the season, we’ll be making posts as they are announced on @splatoon@wetdry.world and here on Substack.
New challenges
Keep an eye out for these new challenge modes which you will see appearing throughout this season:
Inkjets for Everyone
Swim It to Win It
Modded Rainmaker Test-Fire
New weapons
We can’t forget the weapons, can we?
After one whole year, Nintendo has done the unthinkable. They’ve added no shooters or blasters… and instead they’ve added the first stringer variant. This is truly unacceptable with Nintendo giving us 12 weapons at most each season and we only have 3 stringers and 3 splatanas.
Either way, here are the 10 new weapons that Sheldon will be stocking this season:
Dread Wringer: Suction Bomb and Reefslider
Heavy Edit Splatling: Curling Bomb and Tacticooler
Gold Dynamo Roller: Splat Bomb and Super Chump
Octobrush Nouveau: Squid Beakon and Ink Storm
Sloshing Machine Neo: Point Sensor and Trizooka
Custom Goo Tuber: Fizzy Bomb and Ultra Stamp
Bloblobber Deco: Angle Shooter and Kraken Royale
Ballpoint Splatling Nouveau: Ink Mine and Ink Vac
Sorella Brella: Autobomb and Inkjet
Inkline Tri-Stringer (referred as the Tri-Stringer Collab in some promos): Sprinkler and Super Chump
We also know that the Grizzco Dualies is on its way! You'll be able to try it out in the Big Run!
New stages
In this season, we get two brand new stages and a returning Salmon Run stage! This breaks the pattern for regular stages, where we’d usually see one brand new stage and one stage returning from Splatoon 1 or 2. I have to assume this was done since there were only 3 stages from Splatoon 1 that hasn’t been ported yet3.
Crableg Capital
Shipshape Cargo Co.
Salmonoid Smokeyard (returning from Splatoon 2)
Everything else that hasn’t been mentioned yet
Grizzco will be offering new slopsuits, as well as some gear from previous Splatoon games this season so make sure to check them out.
You can now adjust certain pieces of gear, for example making a t-shirt oversized or flipping a cap backwards.
By the sounds of it, special splatfests are making a return to Splatoon 34.
When playing in a Splatfest, you can now get badges for winning 10x battles!
Thank you for reading this post about what’s changing in the Drizzle Season 2023.
I know the changes made in this season is pretty underwhelming, but at least you are now all up to date!

Bluefin Depot, Urchin Underpass and Saltspray Rig have not returned to either Splatoon 2 or Splatoon 3.
I can’t say with certainty whether this actually is or isn’t happening. It’s pure speculation based on a post Nintendo of Europe made on Twitter.
“Who would be the best leader: Shiver, Frye or Big Man?
Find out in a special Splatfest to celebrate one year since #Splatoon3's launch, taking place from 09/09 to 11/09!”
