Version 5.0.1 launching soon + major Side Order news
There's a new update coming to Splatoon 3 that has some minor bug fixes, plus some banners. And, if you're waiting for Side Order, we've received some major news today.
Before I start, expect spoilers for Side Order later on in the article. I'd highly recommend watching today's Nintendo Direct if you do not want to be spoiled.
After today's Nintendo Direct finished airing, Nintendo has officially announced that Splatoon 3 version 5.0.1 will be available tomorrow at 1am.
It doesn't feature anything major, however if you have purchased the Splatoon 3 Expansion Pass, you'll be able to claim some Off the Hook banners. You'll also be able to claim some Squid Sister banners. There're 5 bug fixes1 that will be released alongside this update.
Here's your last warning to tune away now if you do not want to hear anything related to Side Order.
I'm serious.
Have you got the message?
Here, I'll even link you the Direct segment so you don't have to listen to it.
One last thing before we start, don't expect this post to contain absolutely everything we've seen in the trailer. I have tried my best to list the main things, but I will miss a lot.
First of all, let's talk release dates. In the trailer, it states Spring 2024, however it still seems likely that it'll drop at the very end of winter, since that’s when the rumoured Splatoon 2 season is scheduled.
The main player character in Side Order looks to be Agent 8 from Splatoon 2, as some dialogue shown in the trailer mentions that.
The next thing to note is that throughout the story, it looks like you’ll be assisted by Pearl, which is in the form of a drone in Side Order. We don’t know what purpose Marina has yet, however we did see some references about a character called Acht, who looks pretty similar to Dedf1sh which is the character that made most of the Splatoon 2 Octo Expansion music. Acht apparently goes way back with Marina, I assume that would have been before the events of Splatoon 1. It’s unsure whether Acht does play a main role yet though.
Side Order is set in the Spire of Order, where you will be able to strengthen your characters abilities as you ascend through the various floors. According to Nintendo, they are designing the DLC in a way that people can play over and over again. This statement has made some people suggest that this may play like a roguelike game.
I suspect a dualies class weapon will be the main weapon for Side Order since that’s all that we’ve seen for weapons so far.
The last thing I’d like to point out is that it looks like some sort of fish enemy seems to be one of the main enemies in Side Order.
That’s what I’ve been able to gather from the trailer so far, but if you have any more information, consider sharing it with me so I can update this article. Thank you!
